To celebrate the Mongolian Youth Day, UNV Mongolia and ASEM11 Volunteer Management Office announced a volunteer story writing contest among the ASEM11 Volunteers. On August 25, UNV Mongolia invited ASEM11Volunteers came to UN House Mongolia, to share their volunteer stories during the ASEM11 and to hear about UNV and UN Youth Advisory Panel (UNYAP).
National UN Volunteer, ASEM11 Volunteerism Communication Coordinator Purevjav and UNYAP Mongolia Coordinator, Uchral presented about what #UNVolunteers do; how to become UN Volunteers; UNYAP's cooperation with UN agencies in Mongolia; how to join #UNYAPMongolia.
5 Best Volunteer Story writers were also awarded. Ms. Beate Trankmann, UN Resident Coordinator in Mongolia greeted all the volunteers at the beginning of the awarding. She congratulated the successful first-ever largest volunteering initiative in Mongolia, which was coordinated by the Government under the unified management system. She also praised the broad partnership to make the volunteering initiative much stronger: Mongolian youth volunteers, Government, universities, UN and UN Volunteers, private sector, etc.
It was emphasized that volunteering is a two-way street: giving and getting back, since volunteers get encouraged; build their capacities; receive recognition, while contributing their energy and time through volunteering. She expressed her hopes that such youth volunteering initiatives continue further for broader civic engagement and youth-led social development in Mongolia. She also wished to see the ASEM11Volunteers again, as UN Volunteers or UNYAP members in the future.
